About

Hello! I’m Steve Bell, a 3D artist from Glasgow, Scotland.

I’ve been working in the animation, game and advertising industry for close to 15 years now, with a BA(Hons) Animation from DJCAD and an MDes with distinction from the Glasgow School of Art. I’ve worked on projects for some amazing clients over the years, including Riot Games (League of Legends), Passion Pictures (Gorillaz, Rollin’ Wild), Microsoft (Crackdown 2) and lots more.

As Senior Artist and Asset Lead at Interference Pattern for the past 11 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some incredible creatives on a broad range of projects, from advertising campaigns (Captial One, Virgin Media, Scottish Power) to kids TV programming (Dog Squad, Roots and Fruits), video game trailers (Batman: Arkham Shadow, Brawl Stars, Magic: The Gathering, Horizon: Zero Dawn), music videos (Gorillaz, K/DA, Looper) and even a few short animated films (Nothing to Declare, Burry Man, A Bear Named Wojtek).

My experience includes, but is not limited to:

  • Producing high-quality assets for offline and real-time productions – modelling in Maya/Blender, sculpting in Zbrush and texturing in Substance Painter.
  • Character, vehicle and prop rigging for animation.
  • Effects, procedural work, scene assembly in Houdini.
  • Unreal Engine level layout, sequencing, render management and profiling.
  • Broad knowledge of the Adobe CC suite, including image manipulation in Photoshop, compositing and animating in After Effects, and editing in Premiere.
  • Asset review and feedback for other artists using Flow (formally Shotgrid).
  • Troubleshooting, problem-solving and writing documentation.
  • Student mentoring and portfolio reviews.

If you’re in need of a versatile artist who’s always willing to take on a challenge, please feel free to get in touch!
